A few of the anglers have reported their own story with their methods they used on the day in march here

Last night and today (thursday 30th march) five anglers two from cardiff and three from the mumbles swansea landed 11 and lost 7 one angler lost four at the net, they were fishing off pegs 8, and pegs 19,20 and 21

Carl Thomas from Llanrumney Cardiff took his personal best with a 19lb and 16lb off peg 8 on spicy chicken flavoured bollies also on peg 8 Paul better known as PX also had a 17lb and a 16lb

There's two matches being fished the results were posted of one on the fish4wales site, as one was the last match of the winter series, Brian Bevan had a 104lb bag in practise one day in the week but couldn't match this during the match

The carp lake has been busy over the weekend speaking to several of the anglers this morning a few were landed last night

Three ebbw vale lads fishing off pegs 11 and 12 have had five doubles last night Andrew Dix landed the biggest at 20lb 6oz caught at 3am this morning.

His mate Gareth Hunt had three to 18lb and Simon Davies had a 10lb 2oz common, below Andrew Dix with the 20lb 6oz caught Saturday night of easter bank holiday weekend

Here's a report as written by my dad for the local paper during may
The fish are still on the move in all the lakes despite the atrocious weather, with the canal and pleasure lakes fishing well.

Anglers have been braving gale-force winds to report bags of very mixed species. Golden orfe and golden tench up to 3lb along with carp to 10lb have been taken.

Dave Isles landed bream off the canal to 5lb, plus an 11lb carp.

The match lake has been very good for F1 carp up to 3lb, and bags of 70lb 14oz off pegs 6-13. However, the weather has caused some damage, with poles breaking. One angler had to jump in after two sections, only for them to break the following day in the wind.

It's been very busy on the specimen lake, with the best fish a 28lb mirror and plenty between 18lb and 28lb.

Another Match Result

Results: 1. Stan Crawley 56lb 10oz; 2. Richie Candy 48lb 10oz; 3. Danny Baker 39lb 15oz.

There will be a junior masters competition in July to qualify for the premier fisheries finals. Details can be found at the fishery.

New Match Record Set

Sun 28th may was the first day of the annual two day festival at whites springs anglers have to fish one day on the match lake and the other day on the canal or vise versa

with trophies and prizes for the best bag over the two days and yesterday there was a new match record set

the canal saw some good bags with

howard green off peg 32 weighing in 70lb 1oz

shaun wilson off peg 12 weighing in 56lb 2oz

spud murphy off peg 36 weighing in 42lb 6oz

however these bags were dewarfed by the match lake results

mike ayres peg 22 with a new match record 150lb 2oz

followed closely by simon jones on peg 24 with 95lb 8oz

and richard candy on the other side of mike on peg 18 with 75lb 11oz

other weights on the match lake kevin geech 69lb 14oz

dave whittan 66lb

mathew morgan 63lb 2oz

day two

the second day of festival saw a more windier day, making the fishing with a pole a little more difficult, but later in the day the wind eased off.

however like sunday the match lake oufished the canal lake

anglers had to fish the different lake to the previous day, results on the match lake, stan crowley peg 13 .... 142lb 7oz but his 17lb 2oz bag the previous day put him out of the frame for the two day event

howard green peg 20 .... 69lb 2oz section winner and his previous days section win of 70lb 1oz gave him a good chance of being in the top four overall

spud murphy peg 18 ..... 65lb 13oz with a 42lb 6oz the previous day

phil weaver peg 11 ..... 68lb with 30lb the previous day

mark jones peg 26 ...... 65lb 8oz with 37lb 6oz previous day

shaun wilson peg 3 ..... 63lb 3oz with 56lb 2oz previous day

the four top rods from match lake from the previous day were fishing it out and the weigh in was tense for the canal lake.

mike ayres yesterdays overall winner with 150lb 2oz drew peg 9 and today he had the second heaviest bag from both lakes at 77lb 6oz, which secured the festival win for him with two section wins

dave whittman from london who had second in his section yesterday with 66lb had second in his section again today off peg 32 with 41lb 6oz, and was in with a chance and it was good enough for one of the top prizes of the event

on the very next peg to dave was rickie candy with 36lb 9oz giving him a second in the section and yesterdays section win of 75lb 11oz also saw him in the prizes

in total today off the canal lake on day two there were 10 out of 14 rods with 35lb plus bags

the overall results which took section wins for both days to win were (there were anglers with heavier bags but they did poor in their sections and rankings)

first mike ayres total bag 227lb 8oz

second howard green total 139lb 3oz

third rithchie candy total 112lb 4oz

dave whittman total 107lb 6oz
