WELCOME TO BOTH SIDES OF THE BRIDGE

Both Sides of the Bridge was born because there was a big demand for community news around Hendy Pool.

After the sucessfull fund raising event in which the Simply Red Tribute Red Mick and Sean Maloney Meatloaf put on a tremendous show which raised over £5,000 in one weekend. Many locals have been asking myself and Tony Polverino at the Red Lion what's happenning with Hendy Pool.

Seven members of the Hendy Pool sub committee got together and formed Both Sides which they hope will become a big asset and hit amongst the villagers of Hendy and Pontarddulais

We've just added an electronic version of both sides to the Pontarddulais web site WWW.PONTARDDULAIS.COM  We hope you like it?

Just to continue with some further update the sub committee of the pool have been meeting weekly and last week (10th November 2006) I personnaly attended three sub committee meetings in one week. We've been actively meeting recently because the sub committee have found some grants that Hendy Pool would be eligible to apply for.

Also last week four pool committee members Vernon Hicks, Ryan David, David Thomas and myself attended a grant seminar which was aimed at volunteer groups. There were four grant found managers there from the Lottery and they gave us some usefull tips on how to make a sucessfull lottery bid.

We need old photos of the Pool and Hendy if we are to be sucessfull in a Heritage bid. Because Hendy Pool whilst built by volunteers 75 years ago would not be enough on its own to win a lottery bid. A successfull lottery bid would have to teach and preserve the history. If you have any photos or news paper clippings then please contact myself Tony at the Red Lion or Vernon Hicks with your piece of History or news

There's two pages of the Both Sides click here to see the second page

Thanks
